The Gujarat Titans have won two out of their first three matches in IPL 2024 and are showing some positive signs. The Punjab Kings, on the other hand, has lost their previous two matches and appear to be one of the weaker teams of IPL 2024.

The Titans are heavy favorites heading into this contest. Can the Punjab Kings give us something special oin this match?

GT vs PBKS Head to Head

The two teams have played each other three times with two of those victories going to the Gujarat Titans and one to the Punjab Kings.

GT vs PBKS Team Previews

Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans are in a good place on the IPL 2024 points table. They have won two out of their three matches, both of them in Ahmedabad, and are getting their team combinations right. We thought the addition of Noor Ahmad in their playing eleven was a good move and paid them a lot of dividends. Noor's presence makes Rashid Khan more deadly as well.

With Mohit Sharma bowling brilliantly at the death, GT has some very good bowlers to call upon. We are still not very sure about the kind of performances you can expect from Azmatullah Omarzai and Umesh Yadav as both of them can be very expensive.

On the batting front, Shubman Gill showed signs of good form and we feel a big score might be aroudn the corner. David Miller was brilliant while batting at number four but seemed to have picked up a niggle. His availbility is in question and if he is unavailable, it will be a big blow for GT.

Sai Sudharsan has been excellent but depending on Vijay Shankar, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Rahul Tewatia to do too much is not something GT would want. As a bettor, we think you can be quietly optimistic about GT's chances in this match but recognize the weaknesses they have as well.

Gujarat Titans Playing 11

WP Saha, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Kane Williamson, Vijay Shankar, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Umesh Yadav, Darshan Nalkande.

Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings have followed a pretty similar template in all of their matches so far. A strong opening stand, runs for Shikhar Dhawan at a middling strike rate, and then nothing much to follow. The batting performances have just not been as good as expected and a lot of it has to do with the utilization of resources.

Liam Livingstone continues to be pushed down and down in the batting order even when he is probably the most dangerous T20 player that PBKS has. Shikhar Dhawan is sort of playing the role that Virat Kohli is for RCB. Consistent but not fast enough for today's T20 cricket.

Dhawan's innings give PBKS something to work with but leaves them vulnerable to an attacking batter from the opposition. In such a situation, Jonny Bairstow, Jitesh Sharma, and perhaps Sam Curran will all need to step up to build on the starts that they have been getting.

The balance and the leadership of the PBKS team feels a bit off. We can also see the overseas players struggle against Rashid and Noor in the middle.

The bowling attack for PBKS is one of the weakest in IPL 2024. Kagiso Rabada is not the force he was a few years ago, Arshdeep Singh seems to have regressed, and Rahul Chahar is struggling for any impact. Sam Curran is not someone that is going to run through sides in these conditions either.

Punjab Kings Playing 11

Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma, Shashank Singh, Sikandar Raza, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh.

GT vs PBKS Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Six out of the previous 10 IPL matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium have been won by the team that has batted first.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions in Ahmedabad are expected to be ideal for cricket. There is no rain predicted and we should have an uninterrupted contest. The average score batting first here is 191. That shows that teams need to target something close to 200 to feel comfortable defending.

A six is hit ever 14 balls at this venue and so a big over always seems to be aroudn the corner. Teams are never out of the contest even when the asking rate seems to be touching 15.

GT vs PBKS Betting Tips

We are going to bet on the Gujarat Titans to win this match. We think they have an excellent batting lineup with the main players coming into form. The possible adbsence of David Miller for this match is something that we will have to see when the team is annouced.

On a player to player comparison, GT should be able to win this match quite comfortably.

Total number of wickets in the Match

    Over 12.5 (1.75)

There have been two matches played at Ahmedabad this season and we have seen 15 wickets fall in the first but only 11 in the second. The pitch at Ahmedabad is good for batting but with two slightly wobbly batting lineups and plenty of quality in the GT lineup, we think there is a good chance to see Over 12.5 wickets in this match.

4 To Hit in First Over?

    Yes (1.55)

Both teams have very attacking opening batters that will look for boundaries from the very first ball. An edge will also do the job for you to win this bet! Well worth the risk in our opinion.

    Team with Top Bowler

    Gujarat Titans (1.75)

We think the Gujarat TItans have a much better bowling lineup. The spin twins of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad will be the biggest threat but don't count out Mohit Sharma either. Once again, to get a 75% return on your stake for this market is absolutely brilliant.
