The UP Warriorz have won the toss in 2 of the 3 matches they have featured in, while the Gujarat Giants have lost both tosses. Therefore, the UP Warriorz seem more likely to win here once again.
Grace Harris is in good form with the bat and is also the top run-getter for UP. She has scored 38 runs each in 2 of her 3 innings, and the batting around her hasn’t been that consistent. Therefore, Grace Harris has a good chance of being the top batter of her team.
Sophie Ecclestone was the joint-highest wicket-taker last season. She has done well to pick up 3 wickets so far in this edition and has been among wickets in all her outings. With the pitch at Bangalore slowing down a bit, we might just see her bowl a good spell.
The Gujarat Giants will be searching for their first win of the season as they take on the UP Warriorz this Friday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Both teams have played 2 matches against each other so far, and both those matches were won by the UP Warriorz.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or can be watched live on the Sports 18 Network.
The Gujarat Giants haven’t had the best of starts this season and have lost both their opening matches. As a result, the team is placed at the bottom of the points table. While there are quite a few matches yet to be played, Gujarat will need to play better before things get worse.
The batting has been a big letdown for the team. There were high hopes from international stars including Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield, and Ashleigh Gardner. However, none of them has been able to play a match-winning inning. Harleen Deol and D Hemalatha got a good start in the last match but weren’t able to convert into a big inning.
The bowlers haven’t fared better either. Tanuja Kanwar is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 3 wickets but has received little support from the other end. Lea Tahuhu, Kathryn Bryce, and Ashleigh Gardner have managed to pick up just 1 wicket each.
The Giants will need to perform better in all departments if they want to get back to winning ways.
After facing back-to-back losses at the start of the season, the UP Warriorz managed to turn things around on Wednesday as they defeated the Mumbai Indians in a one-sided encounter.
Grace Harris has proved to be a reliable all-rounder for the team, scoring 93 runs and also picking up 2 wickets. She, along with Deepti Sharma, is a key batter in the middle order. Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire put up an excellent opening partnership in the last match, scoring 94 runs for the first wicket.
Kiran Navgire scored a brilliant half-century and looked in fine form. Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Deepti Sharma, and Sophie Ecclestone make up for a strong spin attack and have picked up 8 wickets between them.
The seam department does seem a bit weak as Tahlia McGrath and Anjali Sarvani have managed to pick up just 1 wicket each.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The Chinnaswamy Stadium has already hosted 7 matches and there are plenty of rough areas on the pitch. The surface is hard and dry, allowing the quicker bowlers to work with the seam and they will get some movement when the ball is new. Things should get better for the batters as the match progresses, and anything around 170 is chasable on this ground.
The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius.
The UP Warriorz were clinical in their performance during the last match and the win should give a big boost to their confidence. On the other hand, the Gujarat Giants have struggled and we expect their woes to continue.
