The Titans played their first match of the season against the Dambulla Aura and it was a very close affair. The match ended at an equal scoreline but the Titans managed to hold their nerve till the end and eventually won via the Super Over.

Shevon Daniel and Lasith Croospulle will look to give the team a good start. The former was in good touch but failed to convert his good start into a big inning. The Titans’ biggest strength this season is its middle-order batting. It has some pretty strong performers including Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Tim Seifert, while all-rounders Dasun Shanka and Shakib Al-Hasan add depth to the batting.

Coming to the bowling, there are plenty of options available for skipper Shanaka. He is a good medium pacer and will bowl alongside Kasun Rajitha and Vishwa Fernando, while Shakib, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Seekkuge Prasanna will feature in the spin department. 

Kandy Warriors

Kandy, which topped the points table in the last season, will be pretty disappointed with the performance in the opening fixture here. They were completely dominated by the Colombo Strikers and faced a big defeat. They will now look to bounce back and also improve their NRR.

With players like Sarfaraz Ahmed and Aamer Jamal coming in to bat at numbers 7 amd 8, Kandy has a lot of depth in its batting and will have to use it as an advantage. The openers, Thanuka Dabare and Dinesh Chandimal didn’t appear to be in the best of forms but will need to give the team a good start.

Ashen Bandara was one of the top run-getters for Kandy last season and will be a vital cog in the middle order, while all-rounders Wanindu Hasaranga, Kamindu Mendis, and Angelo Mathews are all capable of scoring runs. Isuru Udana and Mohammad Hasnain will start the proceedings with the new ball and will have the support of Jamal.

Kandy has a good selection of spinners too, including Hasaranga, Mujeeb ur Rahman, and Mendis.
