ENGW vs NZW Team Previews

England Women

The hosts have been indomitable throughout this tour and the latest T20 was no different. England won the match quite comfortably on Thursday and has already won this series.

Alice Capsey, who has had a relatively quiet summer so far, came to form in style as she smashed 67 runs in 60 balls. Her partnership with Sophia Dunkley was important in helping the hosts reach the 142-run target in the last over.

Maia Bouchier has been rock solid at the top of the order and will hope to give a strong start. With Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amy Jones, and Danielle Gibson playing in the middle order, the hosts are capable of posting big totals. Coming to the bowling, the spinners have done a brilliant job so far. Sophie Ecclestone picked up a 4-fer in the last match and is the leading run-scorer of the series.

She has two able supporters in the form of Sarah Glenn and Charlotte Dean. However, the team would have hoped for a better performance from its pace battery.

New Zealand Women

The less said about New Zealand’s performance on this tour, the better it is. While the team did put up a decent fightback in the last match, it wasn’t enough to derail the hosts and they have now lost the T20 series as well.

After failing to reach double digits in the first two matches, skipper Sophie Devine scored a half-century to give some solace in an otherwise forgettable campaign. She is however yet to pick up a wicket on this tour. Suzie Bates is another batter on whom the visitors can pin their hopes.

She has plenty of experience playing against England and is hard to stop once she gets going. Amelia Kerr, Isabella Gaze, and Maddy Green will have to convert their starts into big innings if they want to help their team. The bowling has been pretty disappointing as well. Fran Jonas and Hannah Rowe have picked up 2 wickets each but have been quite expensive.

Molly Penfold, who came in for Lea Tahuhu in the last match, remained wicketless.

ENGW vs NZW Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

The Kennington Oval is one of the better grounds to bat on. The ball comes nicely onto the bat, especially during the first inning, and the batters will be able to play their shots with ease. The team batting first will be looking to score at least 160 runs. As the match progresses, the ball does hold onto the surface, and there is also some spin on offer.

The weather will remain overcast with temperatures of under 20 degrees.

ENGW vs NZW Betting Tips

England has completely outplayed New Zealand in this series and we do not expect that trend to change. Despite the low returns, there is no option but to back the hosts.

Ecclestone bowled a brilliant spell in the last match, picking up 4 wickets. This was her 2nd 4+ wicket haul on this tour. As the pitch at the Kennington Oval does help the spinners, Ecclestone is likely to bowl a good spell.

As the pitch at London is good to bat on, we are expecting at least one batter to play a big inning, especially if the hosts bat first.
