ENGW vs BANW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Nov 12, 2018

England women would count themselves very unlucky to have to wait with their hands tied as the rain just kept pouring down relentlessly. Their first match was against Sri Lanka, an encounter that they should have won by all accounts, but now they have had to share points.

This increases the pressure on the English women a little bit but does not really put them in too bad a position right now. England would fancy itself against Bangladesh under normal circumstances but the rain in St.Lucia could make it a five-over bash if we get some play in at all.

Bangladesh would love a shortened encounter because it evens the odds for them considerably. The shorter the encounter the more is the likelihood that a single player can influence the game and play a match winning inning.

ENGW vs BANW Team Previews

England Women

England won the very first Women’s WOrldT20 but have since not been able to return the feat. Considering the fact that England has been one of the dominant teams of Women’s cricket alongside Australia, just one WorldT20 title would rankle a little.

England has, however, reached the final of the tournament on two other occasions and the semi-final in 2016.

This year, the side aims to do better and try to get another title under its belt.

England definitely has the players and the experience to be able to win this title. In Heather Knight, they have a captain that has already led them to a world title. Her batting may not appear suited to the T20 format but her leadership is invaluable to this side.

The brunt of the batting weight is going to be borne by Danielle Wyatt, Tammy Beaumont, and Nate Scover alongside Heather Knight. In years past the problem with the English side has been that its players have played within themselves and thus let themselves vulnerable to an attacking opposition.

Any Shrubsole will lead the bowling attack for the English with support from the many all-rounders that dot the England set-up.

The only obvious weakness that England has is a lack of power. Its players have been brought up on a diet of ODI cricket and seem to be perfectly set for the fifty over format. The English side has played a fair bit of T20 cricket and experimented with some different batting orders but we feel there is still some room for improvement in this area.

England Women Playing 11

Danielle Wyatt, Tammy Beaumont, Natalie Sciver, Heather Knight, Lauren Winfield, Amy Ellen Jones, Anya Shrubsole, Sophia Dunkley Brown, Sophie Ecclestone, Linsey Smith, Kirstie Gordon.

Bangladesh Women

This will be Bangladesh’s second match of the tournament after they were thrashed by the West Indies in the first match. The Bangladeshi women started out very well in that match. They bowled with heart and discipline to keep the West Indies to just 108 in their allotted 20 overs.

Unfortunately for the Bangladeshi women, their own batting folded without any fight as they got bowled out for 46.

It was an embarrassing performance from a side that has had batting problems in the past. As the Asia Cup Champions, though, it seemed like Bangladesh had worked on its weakness but their failure in the last match is going to raise the same questions again.

How does a side come back from a performance like this?

Not a single player from the side reached double figures, there were only three fours hit in total, and six players were bowled. This is not a performance that Bangladesh should dwell over and instead aim to start their tournament afresh.

Players like Shamima Sultana, Ayasha Rahman, and Rumana Ahmed need to take more responsibility. These are the senior players and played an integral part in leading the side to victory in the Asia Cup.

Also, the batting may have crumbled but the bowlers can hold their head high.

Jahanara Alam took three wickets, Rumana Ahmed took two, and all the bowlers were very economical. If Bangladesh can repeat its bowling performance or achieve something similar then they are going to win a match or two in this WorldT20 for sure.

We feel that Bangladesh is going to be happy taking a point from a washout if it happens. It allows them to get on the board and avoids a loss against a tough opponent.

Bangladesh Women Playing 11

Shamima Sultana, Ayasha Rahman, Jahanara Alam, Fargana Hoque, Nigar Sultana, Rumana Ahmed, Sanjida Islam, Lata Mondal, Fahima Khatun, Salma Khatun, Khadija Tul Kubra.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions are deplorable for cricket in St.Lucia. There has been torrential rainfall on the island for the last week and the same is expected for the forthcoming days. There is a very real chance that no play will be possible. Apart from the active rainfall, the question of drying out the outfield is also something that is going to be very difficult.

The pitch in St. Lucia is usually a little slow but decent for batting. In weather conditions like this, though, how much time the groundsmen would have got to work on the surface remains a big talking point.

ENGW vs BANW Betting Tips

We don’t think there is any play going to be possible in this match and that the teams will end up sharing points. If there were to be some play, though, then we are backing England to win. England has never lost to Bangladesh in the past and that record is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Back ENgland to win if there is any play possible.
