ENGW vs AUSW Team Previews
England Women
It has been almost a decade since the England Women managed to get its hands on the Ashes trophy. Now, as it plays its first-ever five-day Test match on home turf, the team will be desperate to make a winning start to its campaign.
Heather Knight will be leading the team in this match and will be looking to lead by example. She scored a half-century in the warm-up match against Australia A and looked to be in fine touch. Tammy Beaumont and Emma Lamb, who played the opening role in the match against South Africa are likely to reprise their roles here. Beaumont was in particularly good form in the warm-up game as she smashed a double-century in just 238 deliveries.
All-rounders Sophia Dunkley and Nat Sciver-Brunt are likely to feature in the middle order, along with Amy Jones. Lauren Bell and Kate Cross are likely to open the seam attack for England along with Issy Wong, while Sophie Ecclestone will spearhead the spin department and will look for support from all-rounder Danny Wyatt.
England has named two uncapped players in the squad, namely Danielle Gibson and Lauren Filer. Gibson had an excellent outing in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, where she showcased her all-round abilities, while Filer will add teeth to the seam attack.

Australia Women
After retaining the Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, the Australia Women's team will be looking to put up another strong performance and retain the Women’s Ashes, which they have won for the past 4 consecutive series.
The team received some bad news before the start of the tournament as skipper Meg Lanning is set to miss out on the entire tour due to an injury concern. In her absence, Alyssa Healy will captain the team, while Tahlia McGrath will be her deputy. Teenage batting sensation Phoebe Litchfield, who was brilliant in the ODIs against Pakistan earlier this year, is most likely to earn her maiden Test call here.
Kim Garth and Kim Garth are the other two uncapped players on the team who might be playing here. Beth Mooney will be seen at the top of the order, while the likes of Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland, and Ashleigh Gardner will add depth to batting.
Darcie Brown and Megan Schutt are the two specialist seamers on the squad, while Alana King and Georgia Wareham will lead the spin attack.

Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at Trent Bridge has been good to bat in. There is a bit of grass on the pitch, offering a good amount of pace and bounce. The ball will come on nicely onto the bat, and the outfield is quick too. There will be some movement for the quicker bowlers early on, but the spinners will find some turn only after the first couple of days.
The weather forecast is mostly clear and we should have very few interruptions due to rain, if any.
ENGW vs AUSW Betting Tips
Australia has been brilliant across formats and we expect them to put up another strong performance here. While England does have some quality players in the squad, we think that it is highly unlikely that they can come out on top here.
Bet on Australia Women to win.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Beth Mooney showed excellent form in the warm-up match played last week, where she scored 107 and 35 not out in the two innings. As she plays on the batting-friendly track at Trent Bridge, we can expect a good performance from her.
Phoebe Litchfield was excellent for Australia W in the ODIs against Pakistan, where she scored back-to-back half-centuries. She appeared to be in good touch during the warm-up match against England A and that’s why we are backing her to score freely here.
Australia W have plenty of strong players on the team and most of them are in good form. As they play on a good batting surface, we can expect them to score plenty of boundaries.
