ENGW vs AUSW Team Previews

England Women

England did give it everything they could after chasing Australia’s’ big total of 282, but the team fell short just at the end. England required 15 runs from the final over, and came within 5 runs at the last ball, but Oz’s bowling was too effective.

Beaumont was great with 60 and Jones helped a lot with 37, but the star of the show was undoubtedly Sciver-Brunt with her 111*. With just one or two more deliveries, Sciver-Brunt could have led the team to victory, but she just ran out of time. Knight was a bit disappointing with 12 runs, as she had 75 in the game before, but Dunkley hasn’t showed up at all and has scored just 21 runs combined in the two ODI games.

England’s bowlers did a respectable job to keep Australia below 300, and a special mention should go to Bell (3/85) and Ecclestone (3/40), but there was no answer for Perry for much of the game. A few of England’s bowlers could be blamed for the loss, as they allowed too many easy runs and weren’t threatening enough, including Cross (0/41) and Sciver-Brunt (0/44).

Australia Women

Australia were looking a bit shaky after losing three matches in a row, but the latest ODI win matters the most, as it helped secure the Women’s Ashes.

Perry’s 91 runs were certainly the most crucial of her last four games, and she has overtaken Mooney to be the team’s highest scorer in the ODI series with 132 (although Sciver-Brunt is still leading every batter with 142).

Mooney was a bit below expectations with only 33, but it was great to see Sutherland finally score some runs with a well-earned 50, as she had only picked up 32 runs in her previous four games. Healy has also been batting fairly poor in the last two ODI games, with just 21 runs combined. Still, Mooney and Perry have helped save Oz from an Ashes defeat.

For the bowlers, it was again Gardner really taking the reigns and performing at her best with 3/54, making that two games in a row with three wickets. She’s led all bowlers with 6/96 and is crucial for Oz right now. King hadn’t played in any T20 or ODI matches, but she was called up for the second game and it proved a great decision, as she took 3/44. McGrath has been iffy so far, with zero wickets in the last two games.

ENGW vs AUSW Toss Prediction

In ODI matches, it's a 3-3 tie regarding teams winning matches after choosing to bat or bowl, but if Australia wins the toss, they may choose to bowl first to switch things up after the last game.

Pitch and Conditions

The County Ground in Taunton has a reputation for a level playing field for bowlers and batters, however, spinners have recently flourished here more frequently. The boundaries are a little shorter than normal, therefore, we could expect a high-scoring match that will see plenty of big shots.

ENGW vs AUSW Betting Tips

It’s been a tough series to call so far, but the fact that Australia have retained the Ashes and played great in the last game, means that we’ll stick with them for the final ODI.

The Mostbet odds for England are better, although we think that losing in such a crushing way will hurt their chances in the third ODI match. It took a mammoth effort from Sciver-Brunt to get close and even that wasn’t enough.

Australia should dominate if Perry and Mooney continue to shine with the bat, and if Gardner keeps up her momentum of three-wicket hauls, then the Aussies will pick up another victory.

Bet on Australia to win.

It's a good bet to make because she's not only the leading run-scorer for the team with 132, but she's also averaging 50.25 in ODI games. Perry is perhaps the most reliable batter on this team, which is saying something with Mooney on the squad.

The odds for Knight aren't that much better and Sciver-Brunt has the same odds as Beaumont. This makes us think it's worth going with Sciver-Brunt, as her 111* was fantastic and hopefully her form continues into the third game. She's been reliable even before that game and is averaging 44.38 in ODI games, so there's a strong chance she'll be the top scorer.

Nearly every game has been tense so far between England and Australia, but we like the idea of a team getting things started with a quick single. It's unlikely they'll go for a boundary straight away and risk a wicket, but the odds are solid for a single.
