Although Australia won the Test match against England, as well as the first T20I game, it’s fair to say that the English fought back well. England went on to win the next two T20I matches and wrapped up the series, 2-1. Thanks to Wyatt’s 109 runs and Ecclestone’s 5 wickets, England overcame Australia (the bookies’ favourites) and played brilliantly.

ENGW vs AUSW Team Previews
England Women
Sciver-Brunt scored just 55 runs across the three T20I matches, but she’s still a formidable ODI player and will be the biggest hope for England. After all, she’s made 446 runs in her last 6 matches and is averaging 89.20.
We’re also keen to see more of what Dunkley is capable of, as she made 314 runs in her last 10 matches. She’ll have to boost that 31.40 average and do better than 88 runs from the T20 games, but the potential is there. England now has a great third option if Wyatt continues her scintillating form, as her 109 runs were much needed.
It will be interesting to see if Ecclestone (5 wickets in the T20I series) can continue her great bowling, as she was a big reason as to why England was able to win. Ecclestone has picked up 12 wickets in her last 9 ODI matches, and should lead the team again. Dean wasn’t too useful in the T20I series, but she’ll be needed in the ODI games, as she has 18 wickets in her last 10 matches.

Australia Women
Australia will certainly feel like they could have played better, as they were the favourites heading into the T20I series and have a great team.
Mooney will again be the batter that Australia will rely on, especially as she was great in the T20 games with 115 runs. The team around her need to play better, particularly Gardner and McGrath, who had poor batting performances. Mooney is dominant in ODI games, with 471 runs in her last 10 matches, while Healy is also in form with 409 runs in her last 7 games. Perry is the best No.3, as her 92 runs in her T20 games were a small help.
There were several decent performances by the Aussie bowlers, but just not enough consistency. The bowlers weren’t able to keep up a steady attack game-to-game, and Jonassen’s total of 4 wickets across the three games is a pretty low figure.
Gardner will need to have a better series, as she was not threatening enough in the T20 games, but her 15 wickets in the last 10 ODI matches prove that she’s still an in-form bowler.
