ENGW vs AUSW Team Previews

England Women

England was unfortunate to lose by such a close margin in the first T20, especially as they made a solid total of 7/153.

Dunkley was excellent with 56 from 49 deliveries and is the most reliable batter for the team right now. If England is to win, it’ll be because of her great batting, as she has 263 runs in her last 10 matches. Sciver-Brunt’s 7 runs were a huge setback, especially as her team was counting on her. She had 271 runs in her last 9 matches (45.16 average).

England will have to improve their bowling, as Capsey, Gibson, and Davies all gave up far too many runs and didn’t take any wickets. Ecclestone is clearly the team’s best bowler, as she not only took 2/24 in the first game, but also has 17 wickets from her last 9 matches.

Australia Women

It have been no surprise that Mooney scored 61* to help win the game for Australia in the first of three T20 games against England. She’s one of Australia’s best female batters in the history of the sport, and time and time again she’s been vital to picking up victories. She’s had 315 runs in her last 10 matches, as well as averaging 52.50.

Equally as important is Gardner, who scored 31 in Game 1 but is currently averaging 60.50 in her last 10 matches. Healy has been a bit of a disappointment, as she scored only 5 in Game 1, but also just one run in the draw against England A.

It was unusual to see Gardner not take any wickets in the first T20, as she’s usually reliable with 13 wickets in her last 10 matches. She should be better for the second game, but the team can still rely on Jonassen (3/25) and Schutt (2/33). In fact, Schutt is one of the most experienced players for Oz, as she has 17 wickets in her last 9 matches.

Pitch and Conditions

In this situation, batting has considerable benefits and the majority of teams reach significant totals, particularly in T20 matches. The maximum score made on the ground is 240 runs, although the average is between 160 and 170. As there is less bounce on this pitch, it is much easier for batters to predict the direction of the ball.

ENGW vs AUSW Betting Tips

This is quite a mountain for England to climb, as Australia has beaten them three times in a row for the T20 format. However, the odds for England are really interesting and worth a try, especially as the first match was so incredibly close. The Satbet odds for Australia are barely worth it as they are the favourites.

If Sciver-Brunt has a better batting performance and Dunkley keeps up her great form, while Ecclestone can bowl well against Mooney and Gardner, then there’s a chance for England. It will be tough, but there’s enough talent in this English squad.

Bet on England to win.

    Australia Top Batter: Ashleigh Gardner

The odds are too low for Mooney, but Gardner is a great bet because she's one of the best players on the team and can score big in any match. Her highest T20 score in 93, but Gardner is averaging 60.50 runs and already had a solid 31 in the first game.

  1. MostBet

    England Top Batter: Sophia Dunkley

Dunkley has proven that she's perhaps the most important batter on the team, especially if Sciver-Brunt isn't playing well. Her 56 runs were huge in Game 1, but don't forget her 263 runs in the previous 10 matches.

  1. Betway

    England Top Bowler: Sophia Ecclestone

The odds aren't as good as we'd like, but we really don't trust anyone else right now. Ecclestone has been very reliable and had 2/24 in the first T20, but more than that, she's had17 wickets from previous 9 matches. If anyone can bowl well against Oz, it will be her, which makes it a good bet.
