DSG vs JSKS Team Previews

Durban Super Giants

The Durban Super Giants were one of the most consistent teams in the group stages of this season and were one of the first teams to book a place in the playoffs. However, they will be very disappointed with the way they performed in Qualifier 1 where they were easily defeated by the Sunrisers.

Nevertheless, the team has a second chance at making it to the finals and will look to win here.

Matthew Breetzke will be the key batsman for the team in this match. He has been pretty consistent at the top of the order and is also the leading run-scorer for the team. Heinrich Klaasen has also played well, scoring 3 half-centuries.

Klaasen can hit the ball freely and can have a devastating impact on the opposition on his day. Much was expected from Tony de Zorzi and Quinton de Kock but the duo has been underwhelming with the bat. JJ Smuts and Wiaan Mulder are the two quality all-rounders on the team who add depth to the batting.

The team’s bowling has taken a bit of a hit as some of its key bowlers including Noor Ahmad and Marcus Stoinis are unavailable for this match. This will put added pressure on Keshav Maharaj and Reece Topley. Junior Dala has been quite impressive in his 3 outings and will feature in the seam attack.

Joburg Super Kings

After a disastrous performance in the group stage that saw them barely scrape through to the playoffs, the Joburg Super Kings seem to be peaking in form just at the right time. The team has won 3 of their last 4 matches and will be feeling fairly confident as they head to this contest.

Leus du Plooy and Faf du Plessis have been consistent at the top of the order and have put up century partnerships in each of the last 2 matches. Du Plooy in particular is in excellent form and has scored 367 runs at a strike rate of 159.56.

There are some quality players in the middle order like Donovan Ferreira, Reeza Hendricks, and Wayne Madsen, but they haven’t had much of an impact on the proceedings. Coming to the blowing, Sam Cook, who replaced an injured Lizaad Williams in the Eliminator, came up with a brilliant spell to pick up 4 wickets for just 24 runs and is certain to retain his place.

Nandre Burger seems to be getting his rhythm back as he picked up 3 wickets. The duo will once again lead the attack with the new ball, while Moeen Ali and Imran Tahir will feature in the spin department.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Wanderers Stadium has been a mixed bag of sorts. While there have been a couple of high-scoring encounters, a few matches have also seen pretty low scores. There is some help for the quicker bowlers early on in the match.

The firm surface provides a good amount of bounce and pace and the ball does move around a bit. The average first-inning score here this season is around 170 which is a par score.

The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures of around 25 degrees Celsius. There might be some dew during the second half of the match.

DSG vs JSKS Betting Tips

Both teams have played well to reach this far in the competition and we can expect an engaging contest. We think that the Joburg Super Kings have performed pretty well in the past week, especially with the bat, and hold a slight edge in this match. The Super Giants have faced back-to-back losses before this match and will be a bit deflated.

Bet on the Joburg Super Kings to win.
