Derbyshire

Derbyshire has earned 11 points from the 12 matches it has played so far this season. As a result, the team finds itself in the 7th place on the North Group points table. Even if Derbyshire wins both its remaining matches, it will need quite a few other results to go its way, making the chances of reaching the quarterfinals just an academic possibility.

Luis Reece and Harry Came will open the batting here for Derbyshire. Reece hasn’t been in the best of forms so far and has been rather inconsistent. Harry Came, who has played just 4 matches so far looks quite promising and the team will expect a big inning from him.

Wayne Madsen has played well in the middle order, scoring 4 half-centuries and a century, and is the leading run-scorer for Derbyshire this season and has received good support from Brooke Guest. However, the batsmen lower down the order, including Leus Du Plooy and Haider Ali have struggled to get going.

The team has a pretty strong pace attack made up of Zaman Khan, Zak Chappell, and George Scrimshaw. Chappell is the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 22 wickets. The spin attack however is a bit lacking. Mattie McKiernan and Alex Thomson have picked up just 11 wickets between them and have also been expensive. 

Leicestershire

Leicestershire is one of the most successful teams in the history of the T20 Blast, lifting the title 3 times till now. However, they have endured a terrible run so far this season, winning just 2 of the 12 matches it has played. The team is sitting at the bottom of the North Group points table and has already been eliminated from the race to the quarterfinals.

It has been a very ordinary batting effort from Leicestershire. The top and middle-order batsmen including Nick Welch, Colin Ackermann, and Wiaan Mulder haven’t been up to the task. Rishi Patel, who is the top run-getter for the team this season, has played a couple of good innings but he too has lacked consistency. Leicestershire will pin its hopes on Peter Handscomb to give them a good start here.

Michael Finan will lead the pace attack here along with Matt Salisbury and Tom Scriven. However, none of them have been able to make a significant impact on the proceedings. In the spin department, Callum Parkinson has been the most consistent performer, picking up 15 wickets.

Rehan Ahmed had bowled some good spells but he will be unavailable here due to international duties, leaving just Ackermann as the second spinner.
