DCW vs MIW Match Prediction - Mar 26, 2023

We have now reached the end of this inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League as the Mumbai Indians Women will take on the Delhi Capitals Women at the Brabourne Stadium in the WPL 2023 Final on Sunday.

Both, the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals have been the best teams during the group stages of the tournament and it is only fitting that the two teams will face each other for the big finale.

DCW vs MIW Team Previews

Delhi Capitals Women

Powered by an excellent batting line-up, the Delhi Capitals played consistently well during the group stages to finish at the top of the points table, thereby earning a direct entry into Sunday’s finals.

Meg Lanning, who recently led the Australian national team to the Women’s T20 World Cup win, has once again done an excellent job here as a captain. She has led her team from the front and is the leading run-getter in this tournament so far.

She has been supported well by Shafali Verma at the top of the order and together, the duo has given the team some solid starts. Jemimah Rodrigues has played well in patches but the team will need a special effort from her here. Marizanne Kapp and Alice Capsey are two all-rounders in the team, who have performed well with the bat as well as the ball. However, the Capitals have a long tail, which can be a bit of a problem, especially if the top order fails.

They have a strong pace attack in the form of Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey, and Capsey, and will depend on them to take on the strong batting line-up of Mumbai Indians. However, they lack a bit in the spin department, as only Jess Jonassen has been able to take wickets at regular intervals.

The team will need better performance from their bowlers here if they want to win the match.

Mumbai Indians Women

The Mumbai Indians Women had a dream start to the season as they won each of their first 5 matches. However, they faltered a bit towards the end of the group stages and finished second on the table, requiring them to take a longer route to the finals.

The Mumbai Indians brought out their A-game in the Eliminator as they decimated the UP Warriorz by 72 runs. Nat Sciver-Brunt scored an unbeaten half-century to help her team put up a mammoth target of 183 runs, while Issy Wong claimed the first hattrick in WPL to derail the Warriorz’s chase. Just like the Delhi Capitals, the Mumbai Indians have a strong batting line-up.

Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia have been excellent as an opening pair, while Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur have hardly had an off day in the field. However, unlike the Capitals, the Indians have a lot of depth in their batting as Pooja Vastrakar, Amelia Kerr, and Issy Wong can all use the willow to good effect.

The bowling department has performed equally well for the team, as 4 of the top-5 bowlers in the tournament belong to the Mumbai Indians. Overall, the Mumbai Indians have found the perfect balance of players for their playing eleven.

DCW vs MIW Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first here.

Pitch and Conditions

The Brabourne Stadium has a flat pitch which is good to bat on. The bounce is good and the wicket remains consistent throughout the match. The average first-inning score here is around 160, but the strategy will be to get close to 200 runs while batting first and putting the opposition under pressure. While the quicker bowlers hardly get any movement, the spinners will have some assistance.

The weather will remain clear with temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius.

DCW vs MIW Betting Tips

While both teams have played exceedingly well to get this far in the tournament, they both have some flaws in them. However, we feel that the Mumbai Indians hold the aces here as they have a better balance of players. The team has plenty of depth in their batting and more teeth in the bowling department, especially in the spin department, which might be the key difference here.
