Delhi Capitals

The Capitals have endured the worst possible start to their campaign as they have lost each of the 5 matches played so far. With just 9 matches to go, they will need to get some wins soon if they want to remain in the race for the top-4.

While David Warner has been brilliant with the bat at the top of the order, he has received little support from the other batsmen. The Capitals have plenty of on-paper strength in terms of batting, as they have players like Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Manish Pandey, and Yash Dhull. But they have failed to translate their talent into on-field performance.

One of the players that they need to give a chance is Phil Salt. He, along with Rovman Powell could be the key in rediscovering a winning momentum for the team.

Axar Patel has sprung up a pleasant surprise with the bat and has played a couple of good innings with the bat. Talking about the bowling, it is a similar story as despite having some talented bowlers including Mustafizur Rahman, Kuldeep Yadav, and Anrich Nortje, the Capitals have failed to keep a leash on the opposition batsmen.

The team management will have to come up with a new plan soon before it gets too late to catch up with the other teams. We expect a couple of changes in the playing eleven for this match for sure. 

Kolkata Knight Riders

After making a good start to the tournament, the Kolkata Knight Riders have faltered a bit in the last week as they have lost back-to-back matches. However, they have a good chance of making a comeback here as they face a deflated Capitals team.

The team will depend on Rahmanullah Gurbaz and N Jagadeesan to give them a good start here. While Gurbaz has played well in patches, Jagadeesan hasn’t been able to carry forward his form from the domestic circuit.

The middle order for KKR is in excellent form and will be carrying the bulk of run-scoring duties. Venkatesh Iyer scored a scintillating century in the last match against MI, albeit for a losing cause, while Nitesh Rana and Rinku Singh are in good form too.

However, the two finishers of the team, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are yet to showcase their talent.

In the bowling department, the spin trio of Varun Chakaravarthy, Suyash Sharma, and Sunil Narine have done well so far, picking up 19 wickets between them. However, the seamers have struggled to make an impact.

Umesh Yadav has managed just 1 wicket in 5 innings, and Shardul Thakur as well as Lockie Ferguson haven’t been in the best of forms too. KKR is far too inconsistent and we don't think it really deserves the tag of favorites in this match.
