Central Districts

The last match to be played by Central Districts was against Auckland Aces. This game had to be abandoned due to rain. The CD team faced Northern Districts in a game before that on 27th November. This day/night game was played at Palmerston North. Central Districts team batted first to score 206 runs for the loss of five wickets in this contest. Then, the Central Districts bowlers did a fine restriction job of confining Northern Districts to a score of 150 runs from 19.2 overs. The Central District's all-rounder, Doug Bracewell, was awarded Player of the Match due to his superb effort with the bat.

They lost early wickets, but the innings was brought back on track by the wicketkeeper-batter Dane Cleaver, who had a well-compiled 42 from 34 balls. Josh Clarkson also batted well to score 31 runs from 28 balls with two fours and one six. But Doug Bracewell provided the real impetus to the innings. The Northern Districts innings was restricted by Jayden Lennox, who picked up four wickets for 15 runs from his four overs.

Canterbury Kings

The Canterbury Kings also faced an abandoned game against Otago Volts due to rain. Canterbury Kings played their last match against Auckland Aces. In this game, the Auckland Aces team batted first to score 185 runs for the loss of five wickets from their 20 overs. The Canterbury Kings team made a valiant attempt to chase this target but could make just 158 runs before they were bowled out in 17.5 overs. The Auckland team recorded a win by a margin of 27 runs. Michael Rippon led the bowling charge for Canterbury, picking up two wickets from his four overs for 27 runs.

The Canterbury chase did not get off too well either. Their top-order batting did not get too many runs, but Mitchell Hay steadied the ship somewhat in the lower middle order to score 43 runs from 25 balls with two sixes and three fours. Beacon Jacobs also had 42 runs from 20 balls with three sixes and four fours. But after these two batters got out, the lower middle and lower order offered little resistance. But the Canterbury team will again look at these players to score most of the runs in this game.
