BH vs ADS Team Previews

Brisbane Heat

The Brisbane Heat was the best-performing team during the group stages, ending at the top of the points table, and was also the first team to book its place in the playoffs. However, the team has lost back-to-back matches, with the latest one coming against the Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier.

As the team battles with the departure of some of its key players including Colin Munro and Sam Billings, the other players, especially in the batting line-up, will need to shoulder more responsibility. Josh Brown has got a couple of good starts at the top of the order but the team will need him to play a big inning here.

He is likely to open the batting with JJ Pierson. The story continues with the middle order batting as Nathan McSweeney, Max Bryant, and Matt Renshaw have been rather inconsistent. The bowling for Brisbane has been outstanding and will once again play a vital part if the team wants to make it to the finals.

Xavier Bartlett is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 17 wickets and has received excellent support from Paul Walter, Michael Neser, and Spencers Johnson. The spinners have done equally with Mitchell Swepson and Matthew Kuhnemann picking up 17 wickets between them.

Adelaide Strikers

After a sedate start to their campaign, the Adelaide Strikers have played some excellent cricket during the last few weeks. They are coming into this contest on the back of 5 consecutive wins, the latest of which came against the defending champions, the Perth Scorchers, in the Knockout match.

Matthew Short remains the key batsman for the Strikers. He is the leading run-getter of this season and his ability to score quick runs during the Powerplay will be vital if the team wants to win here. Matthew, along with D’Arcy Short, has given the team some brisk starts and the same will be expected here.

Jake Weatherald, who has replaced Chris Lynn in the number 3 slot, scored a brisk half-century in the Knockout against Perth and looks in fine form. While the likes of Harry Nielsen, James Bazley, and Thomas Kelly haven’t had much of an impact so far, they are still quality players who can add valuable runs during the death overs.

The spinners, Lloyd Pope and Cameron Boyce were at the top of their game on Saturday, picking up 7 wickets between them. They will join Ben Manteti and Matthew Short in the spin attack, while Henry Thornton and David Payne will lead the pace department.

BH vs ADS Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Carrara Oval is a bit tricky to bat on. While the surface is hard, allowing the ball to come onto the bat, the new ball does nip around and the batsmen will need to be careful while playing the big shots. The quicker bowlers who hit the right areas will be amply rewarded. Anything over 170 will be difficult to chase on this ground.

The weather is expected to remain warm and humid with temperatures of over 25 degrees Celsius.

There are chances of drizzling during the evening which can lead to some delays or interruptions.

BH vs ADS Betting Tips

Both teams have done to reach this far in the tournament and are deservedly playing the Challenger. Looking at the recent form of both teams, we feel that the Adelaide Strikers hold a slight edge in this contest. They have a well-balanced squad at their disposal which seems to be peaking just at the right time, while the Brisbane Heat has seen a dip in their form.

D'Arcy Short has been one of the most consistent batsmen for the Strikers this season. He has scored a total of 237 runs at an average of 23.70 and has scored at least 20 runs in 5 of his last 10 innings. We are expecting a good knock from him.

The Carrara Oval isn’t the easiest stadium to bat in. The bowlers enjoy plenty of advantage on this pitch and that’s why we feel that it will be difficult for a batsman to score over 65 runs.

Matthew Short and D’Arcy Short have been pretty consistent as an opening pair. On the other hand, the Brisbane Heat haven’t had a stable opening pair. That’s why we are backing the Strikers here.
