Barmy Army Team

The Barmy Army women's team played their last game of the season against Tornadoes Women earlier today. They won this match by a comprehensive margin of 10 wickets. They are currently in 3rd position in the points table. After restricting the Tornadoes Women to a score of 160 runs for the loss of 4 wickets from their 20 overs. Lauren Winfield-Hill was at her brilliant best in this game as she smashed a hundred and, in the end, remained not out on 120 runs which were scored in 64 balls. Hill was promptly named player of the match.

The Barmy Army women chased the decent target set by Tornadoes women of 160 runs within 15.4 overs. They were through to the target with as many as 26 balls to go without dropping a wicket. Earlier during the game, the Tornadoes women got off to a bad start losing 3 wickets with just 33 runs on the board in 5.1 overs. But there was an excellent 97-run partnership after that for Tornadoes between Sune Luus and Natasha Miles that took the total to a defendable one. Luus hit 65 runs in 43 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes while Natasha Miles scored 40 runs from 45 balls with 5 fours. 

There were some good spells bowled by the Barmy Army women. Fatima Sana was the pick of the bowlers with one wicket from her 4 overs giving away just 24 runs in the process. Tara Norris was the other successful bowler for Barmy Army picking up a wicket for 31 runs from her quota of 4 overs. The Barmy Army's opening batters were all over the Tornadoes' bowling attack. Lauren Winfield Hill played an inning of a lifetime, hitting 17 fours and 5 sixes in her efforts. Laura Wolvaardt remaining not out for 40 scored in 31 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.  

Warriors Women

The Warriors women also played their last game today against Spirit women. They won a humdinger by a wafer-thin margin of 3 runs to maintain their position at the top of the table. Amanda Jade Wellington was the best bowler on the show playing for the Warriors. She was adjudged player of the match for her match-winning haul of 3 wickets for 27 runs. Batting first in this game the Warriors women scored 118 runs all out in their 20 overs. The Spirit women came unbelievably close to this score but failed to cross the line, finishing on 115 for 8.

The Warriors top order batters did a decent job up front and the team was 60 for 1 at one stage from 7.2 overs. But thanks to the efforts of Dunkley and Patel from Spirit women's the Spirit bowlers pulled back the Warriors' innings. Ellie Johnston scored 40 runs from 24 balls with 3 sixes and 2 fours while Mignon du Preez scored 27 runs from 23 balls with 5 fours. But after these two settled batters got out the middle order and lower middle order for Warriors women collapsed completely and the entire side was bowled out for 118 runs. They looked like getting close to 170 runs when Johnston and du Preez was batting.

The Spirit innings got into trouble right up front as Connell dismissed their top order batters Sophia Dunkley and Sarah Bryce early with practically nothing on the board. But Bismah Maroof batted well for Spirit women scoring 66 not out and single-handedly nearly took her side home against the Warriors. However, she received little support from other batters. The best bowler on the show for the Warriors was Amanda Jade Wellington. She picked a 3-fer for 27 runs together with that the excellent start provided by Shamillia Connell at the start of the Spirit innings was enough to get Warriors across the line for yet another win.
