The Guyana Amazon Warriors are among the most consistent performers in the Caribbean Premier League and are the only team that has reached the playoffs in each of the 10 seasons played so far. In the last season, the Warriors were in second place in the points table at the end of the group stage. However, they lost both the Qualifiers and failed to make it to the Finals.
Bet on the CPLThe power hitters will be one of the biggest strengths for the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Shimron Hetmeyer, who was the leading run-scorer for the team last season has been retained and will once again lead the team. He has the support of players like Shai Hope, Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayub, and Azam Khan, both of whom are capable of scoring quick runs. There are also plenty of all-rounders in the team, including Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, and Chanderpaul Hemraj, who will add depth to the batting. The seam attack is pretty strong too as the team has some quality pacers including Keemo Paul, Shepherd, and Odean Smith.
While the team does have some big strikers of the ball, they lack a batsman who can hold the anchor at one end and stabilize the innings. The batting line-up is susceptible to a collapse in case they lose a couple of quick wickets. The Guyana Warriors lack quality overseas bowlers in the squad. Imran Tahir is the only one who can trouble the opposition when it comes to the spin attack. While there is some domestic talent in the form of Gudakesh Motie and Kevin Sinclair, they can be a bit expensive against quality batting line-ups.

Bet on the CPLEver since taking over as the ODI captain of the National team earlier this year, Shai Hope has found a new penchant for scoring runs in the white-ball format. Hope scored 252 runs in the previous season at an average of 31.50 and has only improved in form since then. We are therefore backing him to be the top-scorer for the Warriors this time around.
Romario Shepherd is one of the most experienced seamers in the Guyana team and was their top wicket-taker last season, where he took 14 wickets in 11 matches. Shepherd has had an impressive career in the CPL so far, claiming 55 wickets in 41 matches and has a career strike rate of 13.16. Looking at his impressive numbers, we are backing him to be the top bowler for his team.
Saim Ayub made his T20 debut in 2021 but it wasn’t until early this year that he made a mark for himself. In the 2023 PSL season, Saim Ayub played for the Peshawar Zalmi and scored 341 runs, including 5 half-centuries in 12 innings. His strike rate for the season was 165.53. We expect him to continue with his good form in the CPL.
Haris was Saim Ayub’s teammate in the PSL at Peshawar Zalmi this season, where he scored 350 runs at a blistering strike rate of 186.17. Thanks to his hard-hitting abilities, Haris is likely to be a key player for the Guyana Warriors this season.
Another explosive batsman from Pakistan, Azam Khan has been a consistent performer in the PSL. In the most recent season, he scored 238 runs for Islamabad United at a strike rate of 161.90. He has also performed well at the BPL and has previously featured for the Barbados Royals in the CPL.
