Things for KKR are getting worse by the day as they are being marred by injuries more and more. One of their top batters, Shreyas Iyer, was ruled out of the IPL this season, and now Shakib Al Hasan has pulled out. Litton Das is yet to arrive for the season and Lockie Ferguson is also injured. They have only 5 international players in their camp.

Their newly appointed captain, Nitish Rana, is now burdened with the tough task of taking this injury-ridden team forward in the competition. They have decided to play Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mandeep Singh as their openers in place of Venkatesh Iyer.

Gurbaz had a good IPL in 2022 when he scored his runs with a strike rate of 150. These two will be followed by Anukul Roy in a one-down position. This KKR top-order will not inspire awe in the eyes of the opponents.

The KKR middle order will be in the hands of Venkatesh Iyer, skipper Nitish Rana, and Andre Russell. These are dangerous batters and will be the players to watch out for this season.

However, Nitish Rana does not enjoy a good record against RCB after having scored a great inning of 85 from 46 balls in 2019 at Eden Gardens. Another captain's innings are expected from Nitish Rana in this game.

In the first game of the season, Shreyas Iyer scored 34 runs from 28 balls Although this inning was an effort to stabilize the ship, he did not score the runs fast enough.

A lot more runs are expected from him by the KKR team management. Andre Russell has been scoring runs with a strike rate of 200 plus in his last 6 matches against the RCB. In the last match he played against this opposition, he picked up 65 runs from 25 balls with as many as 9 sixes. Russell has hit 22 sixes in his last 6 matches and he is easily the top batsman for KKR.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

This might turn out to be the season the entire RCB fans section was looking for. The first match they played provided a glimpse of this with their opening batters Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis bringing a lot of joy to the Chinnaswamy Stadium as they chased a target of 172 runs against the Mumbai outfit.

Du Plessis hammered a 73 from 43 balls with 6 sixes and 5 fours. Du Plessis was the second-highest run-getter for SA20. In his 11 matches, he put together 369 runs with an excellent strike rate of 147.60. He has also scored 229 runs in his last 4 matches with a couple of half-centuries against this opposition.

Another great news for the RCB camp is the batting form displayed by their former skipper Virat Kohli. He scored 82 runs from 49 balls in the first game. The last 32 runs from this inning came from just 11 balls. So, is the record of scoring 973 runs in the season under threat from these two? Yes, it looks like that.

The last time Virat Kohli played at Eden Gardens he managed to hit a hundred. All-in-all the wickets of these two batters can decide the outcome of the game. Glenn Maxwell is fit and available for the match. He played a cameo in the first game but hit a couple of massive sixes in it.

The RCB middle order will be in the hands of players such as Shabaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik, and Michael Bracewell. They will miss the services of Reece Topley, though, who has a dislocated shoulder. He picked up this injury in the first match of the season.

This injury can lead to David Willey coming back into the side. Karan Sharma and Mohammad Siraj were the top bowlers for the RCB team in the first game. As Sharma picked up 2 wickets, Siraj was economical in picking up 1 wicket for just 21 runs. He will lead the bowling charge once again for RCB

KKR vs RCB Toss Prediction

In the 12 T20 international games played at the Eden Gardens, the side batting second has won seven matches while the side batting first has won 5 games. However, the recent trend shows the team batting 1st to have a greater advantage.

RCB recorded a win in the eliminator game last season at the same venue. They successfully defended a big target of 208 runs after a solid hundred from Rajat Patidar. So, all in all, the side that wins the toss will bat first on the venue.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather during this game will be clear. Temperatures are expected to vary between 25 degrees and 37 degrees. There will be some wind blowing from the West at 12 km/hr.

The wicket on offer at the Eden Gardens ground is a batting-friendly one. The ball will come onto the bat nicely and you can expect even bounce from the track. This wicket at the Eden Gardens venue, however, is not as fast as some of the other venues in India.

The batters might have to be cautious initially before scoring big runs at the venue. There will be some turns available for the spinners as the game progresses. Spinners might decide the outcome of the match as the wicket is likely to offer help to them with time.

If you look at the performance of both these teams in the first match, you will find that RCB has not only won their first game, they are looking at a much more organized side than KKR. Faf du Plessis is carrying his form in the SA20 in this IPL season with some tremendous hitting in the first game.

Virat Kohli's return to form has also been an added advantage for the RCB outfit. Their 148-run partnership in the first match showed everybody what they were capable of. Although both of these teams do not have a good bowling attack, KKR has better spin bowling options.

Andre Russell's batting can make a difference, though. Overall, we expect RCB to win this game.
