Barbados Royals

The Barbados Royals have been one of the most consistent teams this season. However, they were completely outclassed by St. Lucia on Saturday as they faced a 7-wicket defeat. Nevertheless, they are still at the top of the points table and have already qualified for the playoffs.

Barbados’ batting let them down on Saturday and that is something that the team needs to work on going forward. While Quinton de Kock is the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 369 runs, he has received very little support from the batsmen at the other end.

De Kock was dismissed cheaply in the previous match and that led to a collapse of the top order. Only 1 of the top 5 batsmen was able to reach double digits and the team was dismissed for a paltry total of 96 runs. The likes of Rahkeem Cornwall, Rovman Powell, Alick Athanaze, and David Miller will need to shoulder more responsibilities. Barbados’ biggest strength comes from its bowling unit.

Jason Holder and Obed McCoy have picked up 17 wickets between them and will lead the pace attack here. The spin department is pretty balanced as well and consists of Keshav Maharaj, Maheesh Theekshana, and Cornwall. 

St. Lucia Kings

St. Lucia Kings have played some excellent cricket over the last few days and are coming into this contest on the back of 3 consecutive wins. Like their opponents, the Kings have also qualified for the next stage.

Faf du Plessis and Jason Holder make up for a strong opening pair and will look to give the team a strong start here. Holder is the leading run-scorer for his team with 212 runs while du Plessis is close behind with 172. The middle order has some strong performers as well in the form of Ackeem Auguste, Roston Chase, and Tim Seifert.

The latter two put up an unbeaten partnership of 48 runs to see St. Lucia through in the previous match. The team also has a couple of good all-rounders in the form of David Weise and Mikkel Govia, who provide versitality to the team.
